A Bridge Too Far Traditional Cache

The trailhead is about 100 feet west of the parking. It is in the bottom of a dry arroyo.
The trail runs along the bottom on the left side of the arroyo for about 500 feet.
Do not take the false approach on the right.
The rock face is loose and not suitable for rock climbing.
As always in the desert, watch out for prickly things and scaly things that go "rattle rattle"!
A BRIDGE TOO FAR
Welcome to my first GEOCACHE.
This natural bridge is a well kept secret, known only to a few local residents.
It was formed several million years ago when molten rock was forced up through a crack in the floor of the ocean that existed here at that time.
When the rock hardened it created a dike that held back later flows of volcanic mud, some of which had rocks embedded in it.
In later years the land was lifted and the water drained away leaving the rock layers exposed to the weather.
The weathering of the rock left cracks that running surface water flowed through eroding the rock away and undermining the dike of basalt creating the bridge.
Indian artifacts in the container are pottery fragments collected nearby.
This area was heavily populated by Native Americans beginning about 2,000 years ago.
They left hundreds of piles of broken pottery around, which have been washed into the arroyos and are frequently found by hikers.
Agates and multicolored jasper has been found in the arroyo.
