Geocache Description:

Peerless is in Spring Canyon. Bring your own pencil for the trail.

Peerless is located three miles west of Helper, Peerless was the first coal camp developed in the Spring Canyon District. In 1916, 440 acres were purchased for the development of coal operations. Then in 1917 the mine was sold to Peerless Coal Company, in 1918 the first coal shipments began on the D&RG Railroad. Peerless had about thirty houses, a store, school, mine office, post office and a clubhouse for company officials. At peak production the mine employed about 150 men.
