Geocache Description:

Andover, the surrounding villages and countryside is rich in Geocaches and Geotrails. A dedicated Geocacher would be well rewarded by spending a few days in this lovely part of Hampshire enjoying stunning views whilst indulging themselves in their chosen pursuit. The Ave is a bumpy road off of the A303 leading to Longparish.

The geocache is not at the coordinates given above, but is a short distance (around 650 metres) away. Solve the puzzles below and then use the answers and the formula to calculate the final coordinates. This type of puzzle is called a 'Ditloid', named after a word game that used to appear in a daily newspaper a few years ago.

For example: 7 D O T W = 7 Days Of The Week

or 6 W O H T E = 6 Wives Of Henry The Eighth

or 1 D I T L O I D = 1 Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich (a book by Solzhenitsyn)

A = ? M W T M

B = ? L M F S A W

C = ? M M L

D = ? H O T A

E = ? S R O S F

F = ? S T E S

N51 11.(E+A-C) (E-C-F) (D-B) W001 23.(A+F-B) (E-C+A) (D+F-C)

If you are struggling with the puzzle send me a message and I'll give an extra hint or two to help. The cache container is cunningly camouflaged and is intended to be hard to find.

There are far too many simple cache and dashes around and hopefully this geocache should present a greater challenge. Please replace the container as found.

Parking is available very close to the Geozone.Β

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey or location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or "copy and paste" logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
