Geocache Description:

Federal law Title 5 Section 6103 Columbus Day, the second Monday in October

Columbus Day commemorates the arrival of Christopher Columbus and his ships on this continent on October 12, 1492. It became a federal holiday in 1937 but has been celebrated for hundreds of years.

If you get a chance, visit the sculpture of Christopher Columbus at Columbus Circle in downtown Syracuse.

Side note: Though there is much debate surrounding Columbus' discovery as well as how they treated the indiginous people, I like to believe the truth is somewhere in the middle. I found an interesting article that seems to be uninterested in pushing an agenda and more geared toward finding an accurate version of history. If you are easily opinionated, just skip the article. If you're interested in reading an interesting version of the events of 1492-93, read "Columbus: The Original American Hero".

As usual, please replace the cache better than you found it.
