Bothar Shitric, or Sitric Road, lies at the heart of Stonybatter in the north side of Dublin. A veritable warren of streets with traditional houses originally built for soldiers of the British army serving in nearby Arbour Hill barracks, Stonybatter combines a true community feel with an arty air.
The old street signs carry the cache name. The newer signs state 'Bothar Soitric'. I do not know the reason for the change, except such mis-spelling of place names on local authority signage is rampant throughout the country. Check out the sign over the Lilliput Press, then look at the sign across the street.
Just off Arbour Hill, and very near to the burial place of the leaders of the Rising, this corner of Sitric Road is the regular community meeting place for the locals. If you should happen upon a street party you will be made feel at home.
Take a rest from your day's caching, grab a gourmet sandwich from the nearby Lilliput cafe, grab a book from the Lilliput press, and have a seat between the two. Stonybatter's answer to the Parisien sidewalk cafe.
