Geocache Description:

A small loc 'n loc with a log book, pencil, and trade items for the kids just outside of Wynyards Frank Cameron Museum, open from May to August, which is an old rural school house.

Wynyard hails itself as the "Chicken Capital of the World" because the Wynyard Division of Lilydale Poultry Products supplies chicken to all the Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets across western Canada.

The first pioneers in the area were Icelanders who began arriving around 1904-05. These were soon followed by settlers of British, Ukrainian, and Polish origins. The community grew rapidly, reaching a population of 1,000 around 1930 and developing into the largest service centre in the surrounding agricultural district, which today produces wheat, barley, oats, canola, flax, lentils, and durum. Todays population is over 2,000.

The museum shows the early settlement of the Quill Lakes Region with a collection of photos revealing the harsh realities of homesteading in the early early 1900s, household items, clothing, and sports paraphernalia.
