Geocache Description:

This cache was originally placed here by GREYNOMADS and it has now been adopted by FREDD01. Hoggs Lane is the location of the Great Lakes Airport (hence the cache title). The cache is not on airport property, so there is no need to approach the airport or any of its facilities.

Great Lakes Airport was opened on November 2nd 2003, with Dick Smith A.O. in attendance. This is a privately owned airport but is available for public use. It is regularly used by CFA, Air Ambulance, Politicians and many other Government and private agencies. It was built by someone who owns a beautiful holiday house and enjoys the area for fishing etc. Although living in Melbourne, the owner has his own plane so why not have your own airport!! If you venture further down Hoggs Lane, a large indoor equestrian centre has been built.
