Ian McFate passed away on 02 October 2012 at the age of 13. Ian was the son of SummittDweller, one of the founders, a past president, and webmaster of the Iowa Geocachers Organization. After Ian's funeral, some members of the Iowa Geocachers Organization wanted to do something special to pay tribute to this young geocacher who is no longer here with us. So a memorial tree was planted to honor Ian. The location of this tree was selected by the group and the Superintendent of South Tama County Community Schools, Kerri Nelson. Hopefully when his family, classmates, teachers, people from the community, and even geocachers come to visit this memorial to Ian, they can take a moment and reflect on how Ian's life touched theirs.

Now for the cache, what type of cachers would we be if we did not place a cache in a tree. This is a fairly simple hide, but it may be emotionally difficult for some.
