I broke Mondou's Jeep while on the 2012 4x4 Adventure, but at least he won the coveted Bear! So, I thought it only fitting to hide a cache in tribute to the bittersweet award. . . .
When Mondou & Mrs. Mondou kindly offered me a ride -- but didn't have room IN their Jeep -- they suggested I ride ON it. Now, I SHOULD have thought to get on the rear bumper, but the hood was right there. . . . So, a quarter mile, a sudden halt, and a big ditch to one side led to me sliding off the hood and grabbing whatever was close at hand to NOT fall into the gulley. Suffice to say that plastic Jeep hood latches are NOT built to last (even if they ARE cheaper to replace than windshield wipers, which were my other option)-- and Dukes-of-Hazard-style hood slides are for the younger set. Luckily, Mondou & Mrs. Mondou assuaged my guilty feelings and took the damage in stride. The Upside? Mondou won the Bear! Yup, the trail damage caused by ME was the worst of the day (thankfully, as prior years have included some SEVERELY damaged vehicles) -- and it was enough to contribute to the "win.'
Thanks for NOT being upset, Mr. & Mrs.! I'll be on the lookout for a replacement -- maybe one of the TRR rocket scientists can make a sturdier one 
!
