Geocache Description:

1. Tradi in this wonderfull area around Pietra Ligura.

Hystorie: The name comes forth from the rock (Lat. Petra, Italian Pietra), the average age was right on the sea and on the castle "Castrum Petrae" arose when Byzantine bulwark against the Lombards. The village belonged to the Archbishops of Albenga until 1385 when it by Pope Urban VI. was sold to the Republic of Genoa.

Today Pietra is a small town with a palm-lined promenade and beach resorts that are visited by thousands of tourists every year. Except Pietra Ligure sea has to offer also an attractive Old Town: wonderful buildings from the Middle Ages and the 18th century, and the church of San Nicolò di Bari in the 18th Century with two bell towers and numerous works of art, and the price of the church square.
