Short section of East Side Trail within Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. The trail parallels State Highway 79 where it passes by Green Valley Falls Campground. A well maintained forest path that meanders through a lovely wooded section of the State Park.
Access to the trail is from the East Mesa parking area on the south, the Sweetwater parking area on the north, and from a well-marked Highway 79 connector trail that is located just south of the campground entrance.
The trail offers a delightful walk through forest that was for the most part untouched by the devastating Cedar Fire of 2003. There are six evenly-spaced hides along the trail. They are primarily intended for; well, for little rascals of the pre-teen variety. The intent is to maintain a stock of trade items in the containers; and so, make sure to carry out the intent by placing an appropriate item into the container for each item taken from the container. There will be a little place in Heaven for you if you are generous enough to replace more items than you take so that little rascals from the campground are never disappointed.
