Debrecen has two synagoges. Near to the newer of this, in the Kapolnas street is the cache, the older is 150 meter NE direction in the adjacent Pasti street

There are only two synagogues remained, in 1894 transferred Orthodox, and the Neolog synagogue was opened in 1911. Faithful lacking only the latter is now working.

This is the former site of the Jewish community, there was the building of a Jewish elementary school and secondary school. The schools are no longer in the Church's treatment, there is a municipial youth center.

Debrecen valaha tisztán reformatus város volt, csak a XVIII. század végén engedélyezték más vallásuak, így zsidók letelepedését a városban. A következő évszázad az egykori mezőgazdasági város korszerű ipari és kereskedelmi központtá fejlődéséről szólt és ebben a zsidók a részarányuknál sokkal nagyobb mértékben vettek részt. Az idők folyamán az első két zsinagógát kinőtték, a harmadik 1896-ban átadott, az ország második legnagyobb zsinagógája a II. világháború pusztítása következtében elpusztult. Jelenleg csak két zsinagóga maradt meg, az 1894-ben átadott ortodox és az 1911-ben átadott neológ zsinagóga. Hívek híján ma már csak az utóbbi működik. Ennek egykori telkén található a zsidó hitközség épülete és az egykori zsidó általános iskola és gimnázium épülete. Utóbbi ma már nincs az egyház kezelésében, ifjúsági központként működik.
