NORSK:
Fred Anton Maier (født 15. desember 1938 på Nøtterøy i Vestfold) satte i alt 11 verdensrekorder. Her på denne banen på Notodden 4. mars 1965 sletta han Jonny Nilssons (SWE) tre uker gamle verdensrekord satt under VM på Bislett, og ble den første som gikk under 7.30 på 5000 m med tida 7.28,1. Denne rekorden sto til 26. februar 1967, da Kees Verkerk (NED) slo den med tiden 7.26,6


ENGLISH:
Fred Anton Maier (born 15 December 1938 on Nøtterøy in Vestfold) set a total of 11 speed skating world records. At this arena here at Notodden on 4 March 1965 he deleted Jonny Nilsson's (SWE) three weeks old world record set at the World Championships at Bislett in Oslo, and was the first to go under 7:30 in the 5000 m with the time 7.28,1. The record held to February 26th 1967, when Kees Verkerk (NED) beat it with the time 7.26,6
