Geocache Description:

The Baltimore Street Rain Garden was a project constructed by collaboration between the Opequon Creek Project Team and the City of Martinsburg. In the spring of 2008 the Team installed this rain garden with AGO funding received from WVDEP's Nonpoint Source Program.

This Rain Garden Demonstration is to show how you as a Homeowner can Handle Rain Runoff .. With Style

This area has been converted to a rain garden, “where plants slow down rainfall from the surrounding parking lot and road, and filter pollutants out of it.
Including oil and salt. This garden also allows the first inch of rainfall to soak into the ground and recharge the supply water.
Otherwise the runoff would flow straight into a storm drain leading directly into the creek.”

The Master Gardeners, Hedgesville Girl Scout Troop 442 and Faith Christian Academy students have all donated their expertise and labor to this project. The garden is located at the intersection of Baltimore and Randolph Streets in Martinsburg, WV
