Geocache Description:

This is the seventh week in our North County football series.

The rules are simple. Every Saturday a football geocache will be released by one of six hiders somewhere in North County. Anyone finding it between now and the kickoff of Thursday night’s game can choose a pro football team (the scoring period for this week is from 5:30 PM on Oct. 18 through Oct. 22). Your score is the number of points your team scores. Of course, participation in the contest is optional, so you can still log the cache even if you want to sit on the sidelines.

The catch is that every team chosen must be unique. First-to-Find has choice of any team, second to find has second choice, and so on. The cache hiders are also playing, so that person will select sixth each week.

All news, scoring, and links to future caches will be posted on the season’s announcement geocache page (GC3VBNZ Are You Ready For Some Football) so put it on your “watch list” if you want scoring updates.

When I go to a professional football game (or any event for that matter) I get there super early to avoid all the parking drama.  You pay big dollars for a sporting event these days, so you want to get your money’s worth and if the lot is full, it is usually several country miles before you can find parking outside of the arena.  You could miss an entire quarter or more at that distance.  But even by getting there early and getting a genuine parking spot, it is going to cost you.  Big dollars now for parking, so get the most out of it and tailgate your heart out.  And if you are going to see the Chargers at home, you are in luck – Jack Murphy Stadium (Qualcomm) is the largest single-story parking lot in North America.  Add to that our superior Fall and Winter weather, and Jack Murphy proves to be a real pleasure to tailgate in.  That is unless the Raiders are in town.  Then the parking lot turns into the largest assembly of hooligans you’ve ever seen, where fights and even an occasional stabbing are not uncommon.  Are you the kind of person to leave an event early just to ease the hassle of getting out of the parking lot?  No.  You are true fan that shows your character by staying until the bitter end.  Cheers to you for surviving the parking drama.
