Geocache Description:

Yowie 3747  Cache#: 8  - Prisoners on the Run

This cache is in recognition of the great Community Work and Charity Program called "Prisoners on the Run", which is run by the Beechworth Correctional Centre with the voluntary help of prisoners.

Back in May, I enjoyed participating in the Prisoners on the Run - Prison to Prison Fun Run, organised to raise money to help out local kids with special needs. After the run the organisers were congratulated on a successful event and thanked for their good charity work. Prison staff also added a special congratulations and thanks to the prisoners who participated in the run, for making it all the way to the end and returning back through the prison gate.

It was a fantastic day and it is hoped that it will become an annual event.

The Prison to Prison Fun Run is a great scenic course, an 8km course from the Old Prison (http://coord.info/GC2B70V) in town, past the Powder Magazine  (http://coord.info/GC28TN9) and around the Scenic Gorge Drive (http://coord.info/GC282VX , http://coord.info/GC3GCPP ,http://coord.info/GCWN5C , http://coord.info/GC1RYBE), past the old tannery (http://coord.info/GC2B42P) and out of town to the new prison.

Prisoners on the Run

Here's to the Prisoners on the Run,
Making amends for what they've previously done.

A program based on rehabilitation,
With the aim of successful re-integration.

Busy helping out our community in many a way,
Hoping to turn around their lives after their stay.

We appreciate the new life journey you have begun.
Thank you Prisoners on the Run.

This cache has been relocated from it’s original location to a nice secluded gully off Robinsons Track.

Robinsons Track is not well known, a short cut that connects through between Malakoff Rd and the Gorge Rd.

The cache is about 200m down the track from the Malakoff Rd end; I would recommend hiking it from there unless you have a 4WD vehicle (high clearance) or want a longer hike from the Gorge Rd.

The cache contains a log book & small swaps.
Please bring your own pen and be snake aware.

Happy Hunting, have Fun and Enjoy.
