*gln: ### ARCHIVING UNMAINTAINED CACHE ###

Greetings fueller,

Looks like our timing is off, and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't seen any maintenance plan posted here, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed, and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Glenn

Geocache Description:

My first hide. Pretty straight forward. The parking may be difficult to find. When you get to the right road, drive with caution. Narrow lane, houses and people around. This area of Longview Park gets far less traffic than others. Permission for this cache granted by Dep. Director of Jackson County Parks and Rec.

You are looking for a 4 side lock-tight. It has camo tape and fits nicely in it's home. From parking area, go past the yellow gate and stick with the trails. Should be a fairly easy find, but go planning to enjoy the hike. The main pathway goes straight down to the lake, there is a small dry creek bed to cross when you near the water, but someone put up a fairly strurdy plastic bridge to cross. Find that and enjoy the view of this much unused part of the lake. If you look straight out from this area, you will be looking at the Mouse Creek branch of the lake. Right in the middle of the lake you will see a tree with a huge nest. This has been inhabited during the winter months for years with a nesting pair of Bald Eagles. Take some binocs if you have them. Enjoy the view if they are home but please don't try to attract them, or do anything that might distress them. They come back every year to the nest, but if they get spooked and leave, they won't come back. Respect their privacy. I've sat and watched them from shore for hours. It's quite a sight if you have never seen one before. The actual cache can be reached by taking either of two trails going west off the main trail from the yellow gate to the water. Hope some of you that don't know this part of the lake will get out and enjoy it. Ticks, briars and such are not much of a problem if you stay on the main trails. Only the final 30 feet or so will require some light bushwacking.
