Doctor Who - Journey's End Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

zargfinders: Sadly, it turns out that we're going to have to archive this. Someone had offered to remake and re-instate it for us. However, with more thought, they realised just how much work it would be and decided they had enough of their own cache maintenance to look after. So it's journey's end to Journey's End. Sorry more people didn't find it. It was a great cache until nature deteriorated it.

Journey's End Synopsis (Doctor Who Series 4, Episode 13)

The entire universe is in danger as the Daleks activate their master plan. The Doctor is helpless, and even the TARDIS faces destruction. The only hope lies with the Doctor’s secret army of companions as they join forces to battle Davros himself. After a long fight, the Doctor returns his companions to their homes. He drops off Rose and Jackie at Bad Wolf Bay in the parallel universe where they were trapped in Doomsday. The Doctor and Donna leave the parallel world in the TARDIS, never to return.

Cache Information

Journey's End is a mystery cache. To locate this cache, you must find the eight other caches that are part of the Doctor Who series. Each cache contains a clue. You must collect and decode the eight clues to determine the coordinates of this cache, Journey’s End.

In order to log this cache, you MUST find and log the eight other caches in this series - even if you are able to determine the final coordinates without finding them all! Otherwise the log will be deleted.

The cache is a camoed medium sized container that contains some swaps, a Doctor Who TB and a surprise for the FTF. There is a lot of room for trackables and smallish swaps.

Original contents included:

  • FTF prize
  • Foreign coins collected on The Doctor's travels around the world
  • Bubbling water from the waters of kazoob
  • Logbook
  • Pen
  • TB
  • Exotic glow-in-the-dark stars found around the wreckage of Gallifrey
  • Cache note
  • DIY mini TARDISes

IMPORTANT

  • Please treat the cache with care and replace the container exactly as found
  • No bush bashing required!
  • Do not pull the cache camo up and out!
  • No spoilers please!

The Puzzle

Journey's End is a mystery cache in 2 stages. To find the location of Stage 1, you will have to sovle the puzzle using the clues located in the other caches in the Doctor Who series:

Clues 1, 3 and 7 have been provided below as, sadly, we decided to archive those caches as they required too much maintenance!

Clue #1 - The Impossible Astronaut - Stetsons are cool.
Clue #2 - Blink
Clue #3 - Gridlock - He is completely insane. That and a little bit magnificent.
Clue #4 - The Wishing Well
Clue #5 - Silence in the Library
Clue #6 - Sky Sharks
Clue #7 - The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe - My spaceman angel with his head on backwards. How do I look?
Clue #8 - The Sontaran Stratagem

As of 12/04/2013 the geochecker has been changed to certitude, as after using certitude for solving a number of puzzles in the US I decided that it would be interesting to bring it to Australia.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

At Stage 1 you will find the coordinates for the final cache. They are engraved on a piece of metal attached to the bottom of a post. The post is near a path (or a break in the vegetation) and should be easy to locate. The area around Stage 1 ressembles one of the scenes from Journey's End, which is why the location was chosen. However, it was an inappropriate area to hide the final cache, which is why the cache is hidden elsewhere, a short walk away.

DO NOT take the seemingly obvious path from Stage 1, as it leads to a squatters resort with some rusty drums etc.

The final cache is located a few metres off a main walking path. There are some smaller trails off the main path so there is NO NEED TO BUSH BASH! Be careful where you walk so you don't destroy the pigface!

Please Note: The cache difficulty is based on the fact that, in order to find it, you need to find eight caches and then solve a puzzle. Once the GZ has been located, it should not be difficult to find the cache itself.

CONGRATULATIONS to thejohnnos for FTF! Awesome nightcachers!!
