O’Shaughnessy Nature Preserve (City of Columbus Recreation & Parks Department) offers 57 acres of forests, different types of wildlife, streams, and open areas of water from the reservoir.
The nature preserve is located inside of the O’Shaughnessy Reservoir and is contained within the Twin Lakes Area. O’Shaughnessy Nature Preserve has over 45 different types of breeding birds and over 100 bird species use this area during migration (please be sensitive to the wildlife!). Also there is a diverse variety of forest types from the bottomland elm-ash woods to the oak-hickory uplands. A great place to canoe, kayak, and watch wildlife, includes boat ramp.
There are 7 picnic table surrounding the cache, so come here & have a picnic; the area is clearly under-utilized. Also, there is a wonderful trail that meanders through meadows and pristine Ohio forests with a pretty stream.
I was allowed to place this cache after promising to remind all of you to CITO; there are many trash cans in the area.
Happy Caching! =)
