Geocache Description:

Ever wonder where the Grey Nomads go to hibernate during the southern winter?

This is one of our favourite Pilbara beachside locations.  From the cache you can see for miles, to the East off in the distance you can see Rio Tintos' Cape Lambert Operations, to the West is Karratha and out to the North is the top of the Burrup.  All that ocean in between forms part of Nickol Bay.

During the winter many grey nomads converge on this area to escape the cold of the southern winter, many others come from the opposite side of our great country just to set up camp here and fish many stay for more than the three months allowed.  Once September comes there is a mass exodus as the temperature starts to climb and we locals have the place to ourselves yet again.

We bring our caravan up here on the weekends to escape from Karratha and relax on the beach, it is a fantastic spot.  On low tide we love to explore the rock-holes there is always something to be found hiding.

There are a couple of old sheoaks dotted along the shoreline just enough shade if you choose to bring a picnic.  You do need to bring all your own requirements as there is no fresh water, no toilets, no tables etc.

We hope you enjoy your visit.
