Geocache Description:

For full description of this set of caches please see Ratby Burroughs Round 1.
The areas of woodland are made up of Pear Tree Wood and Burroughs Wood. Pear Tree Wood was formerly permanent pasture land, but the land was acquired by The Woodland Trust in 1997, and designed with the help of local people. There were massive tree planting sessions organised in that year which involved local villagers and children of the nearby villages. Burroughs Wood is a 'wood of 2 halves'. The northern section has ancient origins, the southern part was created in 1996 and 1997, again with villagers' assistance. Both woods are mainly native broadleaf trees, with large areas of open ground being left unplanted to create wildflower meadows. The whole area is now unrecognisable from what it looked like just 15 years ago, and is a lovely area to take a stroll.

There are lovely views over to Ratby village church and Burrough Hill (location of another hill fort) in the distance, about 12 miles away. I've lived in Ratby for many more years than I'd like to let on, and I've only just realised how far you can see from The Burroughs! Beautiful!

There is parking at the side of Burroughs Road in several places, but please don't block gateways, or there is a carpark at N52 39.060 W001 15.925
