First cache on this walk from the village of Leathley in beautiful Lower Wharfedale. Begin the walk along the tarmac lane to Leathley Hall....it looks like a private road but walkers are welcome and access is no problem.
A walk of about 4 miles starting in the village of Leathley ( on the B6161, accessed from the A658 Otley to Harrogate Road), in beautiful Lower Wharfedale using some well known and some lesser used paths.
Parking is available at the Village Hall......N53 55.130 W001 38.859, or carefully on road side verges
No public transport serves the village.
.There are 10 caches and a bonus. Each cache contains a clue to the bonus and they are NOT repeated.
A basic knowledge of a well known cipher..... ( ... --- ...) is required to find the bonus.
All caches are on or very close to public or permissive paths and none are over fences or in/over walls.
Please be aware that the paths are very muddy and slippy after wet weather.
Please keep to the paths and obey the Country Code.
This is a panoramic walk in a very scenic area. The views are long reaching at times. You will see Almscliffe Crag, Ilkley Moor, Otley Chevin, Pool-in-Wharfedale, Arthington Viaduct, Norwood Mast and part of the Lower Washburn Valley. Red Kites also abound.
