The dedication reads:
Inspired by true stories of domestic violence, this mural depicts a woman and child's journey from a painful past to a brighter tomorrow with a myriad of support along the way.
From the Domestic Violence Awareness mural project blog:
For this project, artist Joel Bergner partnered with the organization DASH (District Alliance for Safe Housing), which provides refuge and services to victims of domestic violence in the Washington DC area. The mural was designed based on interviews with victims of domestic violence and focuses on overcoming past trauma and looking toward a brighter future.
This project was financed in part by a Kickstarter campaign, where you can watch a video by the artist describe the project's goals. The project blog is well worth the look for notes and photos of the work when it was in-progress.
Thanks much to the nice folks at B'Cafe who graciously allowed the use of their wall and the placement of this cache; highly recommended if you arrive hungry!
As usual with these city hides, coords are approximate; once you see the mural you'll need to rely on your geosense more than your GPS. Please remember to replace just as found, and don't forget your writing utensil -- enjoy!
-- Congrats (once again) to wetfit for FTF #435! --
The container is slightly bigger than a nano and has moved to a new host.
