Geocache Description:

This is a simple puzzle cache.  Go to the coordinates listed and find the well preserved gravestone for Union soldier William H. H. Fauber.  Gather information from the gravestone and then search for the cache.

We are fascinated by the idea of what people called things and events as they were happening.  For example, what we now call World War I was known, at the time, as The Great War.  That’s because it is the only one that had occurred.

What did the colonists call the Revolutionary War as it was occurring??  Was the “War for Independence” used then or later?

What did President Lincoln call the Gettysburg Address??

On this gravestone is another name for the event that we know as the Civil War.  We had never seen this particular verbiage before.  The purpose of this cache is merely to share another facet of history that we found through geocaching.
