Located southwest of Asuka and close to the Mausoleum of Emperor Monmu(文武天皇陵) in Hinokuma Village(檜隈の里), the colored murals(彩色壁画) (a national treasure) of this tumulus sprang into fame as soon as they were discovered.
It is believed that the person buried here was of considerably high class.
It is not possible to view the murals as they are undergoing repairs but neighboring the tumulus to the west is the Takamatsuzuka Mural Museum(高松塚壁画館) where one can see reproductions and reconstructed models of the richly colored murals.
The cache is hidden near to the Kofun.
In the cache is a log sheet only. Do you think you could bring a pen?
