Geocache Description:

Park?...yes. Grab?...not so much. Container is non-traditional and semi-evil. OK, OK....we are now calling it fully evil by popular demand. Location is a roadside scenic view platform built directly out over the bank of Lake Winnipesaukee with a wonderful WNW-ESE view.

Despite appearances, this spot really is public access property - owned by the Town of Alton and posted accordingly. The sign even says "Public Welcome". There's also a stairway off the side dropping to a sandy patch so you can take a swim if you're so inclined.

An old caching axiom says "find the view, find the cache". That said, there just had to be a cache put here. The view features Rattlesnake Island to the right, Diamond Island straight out, a piece of the open "Broads" waters to the left, and both the Ossipee and Sandwich ranges in the background. Want more? If the air is clear enough, and your gaze is directed properly, you can see a piece of the Presidentials (seasonally white) through a gap in the aforementioned ranges.

I drive by this spot twice a day commuting to work and never knew it was here until I was stopped in traffic for paving one day, randomly saw the sign, and was like "are you kidding me??".

Be alert finding the place. Blink and you'll miss it, especially Eastbound. It's directly across from Riley Rd. Parking for 3-4 cars. Don't know if Alton plows out the parking area in winter or not.

ENJOY!

Congrats to Al81 for the FTF!
