Geocache Description:

These caches have been set to mark the inclusion of South Kyme into the Car Dyke Group of Churches, and the arrival of our new vicar after a vacancy lasting some 18 months. Each cache is placed at a location associated with one of the six Churches in the Benefice. All have been set with permission from the incumbent.

St Oswald’s Church, Walcott

St Oswald’s church is in the centre of Walcott village. Dating from 1852, it is built of brick and stone under a blue slate roof, which was renovated as a Millenium project. It is well maintained and well cared for.
There is a stone coffin lid embedded in the floor which once resided in Catley Abbey:  Catley Priory of St.Mary, (Gilbertine, founded in 1146) which fell into disrepair in the 16th century.  It was located on what is now Digby Road on the outskirts of the village.

This cache is placed within the Church grounds, but there is no need to leave the path in order to locate it. Some stealth may be required if the adjacent farm shop is open. If the church is open please feel free to go in and look around.
