Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
These caches have been set to mark the inclusion of South Kyme into the Car Dyke Group of Churches, and the arrival of our new vicar after a vacancy lasting some 18 months. Each cache is placed at a location associated with one of the six Churches in the Benefice. All have been set with permission from the incumbent.
St Andrew’s Church, Timberland
St. Andrew’s Parish Church dates back to Saxon times and rests in a prominent position at the southern end of the village on an elevated piece of land. It is visible for a great distance in every direction and the view from its tower is worth a tricky climb through the six bells which are rung regularly by a local team of ringers based in Martin.
The organ is a rare Harrison and Harrison which is played at each service.
Due to the proximity of a cache in the very fine Helix Aspera series this cache is placed outside of Church grounds. It is however, at a point where there is an interesting view of the Church. If the church is open please feel free to go in and look around.
