A CITO Event combined with a working party for the Hampshire Countryside Service.
The day will start at 9:45AM when we meet in the cricket club car park. Susanne Frost Countryside Ranger will be there to organise the working party.
We will be removing young birch trees that are growing over areas of heathland, which will benefit rare species including birds such as the nightjar, as well as many species of insect. No experience is necessary and tools, tuition and refreshments will be provided, although you may wish to bring some water with you to drink throughout the work party. The working party will wrap up around 1pm.
I hope there will be many attendees so if there are too many for the tools available we will split into two parties. One will start with the working party and the other on the CITO, then we can swap at about 11:30, so both groups will be involved in the CITO & the birch clearing.
After all the hard work we can go to the pub for a well earned drink.
