"Erwin and Lillian Fry built the Fry Store and operated it from 1936 to 1956. Fry Store was a general store selling groceries, including a meat counter, grain and tack for farm and ranches, and a separate counter for liquor sales. When Fry Post Office was officially recognized by the postal service, April 1, 1937, the name of this community (known as Garden Canyon) was deliberately changed to Fry because the mail had often been delayed, having been sent to Grand Canyon, Arizona , by mistake. Fry Arizona remained until the community was incorporated in May 1956 and became Sierra Vista. On December 2, 1956, a fire destroyed the Fry Store and Post Office Sierra Vista Historical Society This cache qualifies for the Cochise County History Challenge. .
