hobgoblinkiteflier: The reflectors are a bit faded and dirty, the box was wet and the logbook mushy. Thanks for all the favourite points!

Geocache Description:

The cache is a lunch-box sized container but it is not at the above co-ordinates. You need to be here with a torch, to see the start of the trail.  Follow the reflectors through the woods to guide you to the cache.

"Crepuscular" describes the time of day near sunset or dawn when there is still some light in the sky. A number of familiar mammal species are active at this time and are described as crepuscular, including some bats, hamsters, housecats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs and rats. The shafts of light that appear to radiate from the sun are called crepuscular rays.

It is also a good time to look for a night cache in the woods - dark enough to see the reflectors but not so dark that you cannot see where you are.

This night cache takes you on a walk through the woods near Dechmont Law.  It is close to the spot in 1979 where forestry worker Robert Taylor experienced Britain's most mysterious UFO sighting.  He was checking up on some trees when he saw a large spherical craft with a rim like a Sombrero. As he was watching, two spheres with spikes like sea mines came from the craft and grabbed him by the legs.  There are more details in Wikipedia and elsewhere on the web. Hopefully, you will not be abducted by aliens!

The recommended parking coordinates take you to a street called Eastwood Park, next to Deans Community High School.  You may prefer to park under a street light rather than in the darkness.  The distance from the car park to the cache and back is approximately 2km, and you should manage the whole journey in under an hour. The trail is usually wet and muddy in places, so boots or wellies are recommended.

Please use common sense when attempting this cache. Go with someone else or tell someone where you will be.  The area is popular with dog walkers and the local youths, so be prepared to meet them on your walk.

The trail will not take you straight to the cache in case a curious muggle with a torch finds it.  Instead, the trail will lead you to six digits ABC, DEF and the final cache is at:

N55 54.ABC W003 32.DEF
