Geocache Description:

My standard peanut butter container. This was the Albany and Boston Mining co Stamp mill. The large concrete foundation to the NW is the riuns of the "new" hoisthouse for the Franklin Jr mine. The trail leading to the NW runs past the old hoisthouse and then to the mine.

In 1860 The Albany and Boston Mining Co. created a town, mine, lake, and stamp mill. The company failed, and was bought out by the Phoenix, which also failed, and then in 1895 by the Franklin, which profited and lasted. Mine was re-named the Franklin Jr. I came in from the south, by Boston Pond, on a spur line off the old RR track (now ATV/snowmobile trail).  Most of the land to the north is private, a 4x4 track goes north, do not know if you can access this site from the north.  The location of the spur line (trailhead) is included, drive to the boat landing and then along the pond shore till you find the trailhead.
