Multicache als eerbetoon aan Jef. In een bepaald deel is de ondergrond nogal nat. Aangepast schoeisel is wenselijk.

This multicache was designed to honour Jef. It is preferable to wear shoes that can withstand moisty underground, as one part can be a bit muddy after a downpour.

Meer dan twintig jaar was Jef Rens onze buur. Jef was een echte hardwerkende levensgenieter. Bovendien had hij een enorme passie voor muziek. Hij bespeelde dan ook heel wat muziek instrumenten: trombone, bastuba, accordeon, mondharmonica, grote trom …
Tot op hoge leeftijd was hij spelend lid van het fanfareorkest van Blauberg. Samen met vier andere muzikanten van dit fanfareorkest was hij medebezieler en oprichter van het amuzementsgezelschap “VAAF MAN” (www.vaafman.be/album_1/pages/vaafman_00.htm). Op deze foto staat Jef uiterst links met zijn grote trom.
Als eerbetoon aan Jef hebben we deze multicache gemaakt, wij missen hem nog elke dag.

Jef Rens was our neighbour for over 20 years. Although Jef always worked hard, he also knew how to live life to the fullest. His biggest passion was music. He did not only like listeling to it, making and playing songs was a must to him. He played various instruments: the trombone, the tuba, the accordion, the harmonica, the big drums, etc.
Even at high age he remained an active member within the fanfare orchestra of Blauberg. Together with four other musicions of the aforementioned orchestra, he even started a music group. This music group, named ‘Vaaf Man’, was all about enjoying music, making fun and living life to the fullest. If you click the link at the end you’ll see this music group, where Jef is standing to the very left, holding his big drums.
It is to honour him and his joy of life that we made this multicache We still miss him, every single day.

Deze multi kan gedeeltelijk met de fiets afgelegd worden. We raden je echter aan om dit tochtje te voet te doen, zo bewaar je de rust in dit vrij stille gebied en met een beetje geluk zie je onderweg nog reeën, buizerd en andere “wilde” dieren (vooral in de vroege ochtend). Jef was ook enorm geboeid door onder andere vogeltjes (dat zal later wel duidelijk worden).
Om van start te gaan met de cache moet je eerst de rustplaats van Jef vinden, zo zijn we zeker dat hij af en toe bezoek krijgt. Jef ligt begraven op het kerkhof van Blauberg. Als je hem vindt doe hem dan zeker de groeten van de achterlichtjes, dat zal hij zeker op prijs stellen.

This multi can partially be done by bike, but it is advisable to do it by foot. Not only is it easier for the cacher, but going on foot makes sure nature is not disturbed. Within the quiet area you will go through you sometimes can spot wild animals. Deers and buzzards for instance, but other animals as well. Early in the morning most animals are most easily spotted. As you will notice throughout this multi Jef also liked birds a lot, as they are natural musicians.
To be able to start this cache your first task is to find the place where Jef rests in peace. The grave of Jef can be found on the cemetery of Blauberg. If you visit his grave, please greet him on behalf of de achterlichtjes. Both him and we will appreciate that.
