Geocache Description:


Placed near the historic de Salis family cemetery, this cache offers some interesting history into the area. The ACT government has a well maintained track along the river, all the way to the site. They have also added a few informative signs along the way. There is no need to enter the cemetery to find this cache.

This site is unusual, as the entire cemetery has been raised over a metre above the ground! (And held up using a dry-stone wall). This was done for two reasons:
  1. The ground was too hard to dig at this location, and
  2. Previous burials had been washed away by floods!
A lovely 1.5km walk starting at the trail head provided, along the Murrumbidgee River to the cache! There are some nice views over the river along the way.
