While you can hear the outside world humming and whirring busily by, this place seems peaceful, somehow untouched by modernity. No need to desecrate any graves, the cache is located outside the cemetery. The container is now a small.
Here lies William Harris Crawford, teacher, lawyer, duelist and statesman, who was born in Virginia on Feb. 24, 1772, the son of a poor farmer. Moving to Georgia at 14, he studied, taught and was admitted to the bar in 1799. He killed P.L. Van Alen and was severely wounded by Governor Clark in duels. He was elected legislator in 1803 and U.S. Senator in 1807. He was the youngest President pro-tem of the Senate from 1812-13. He was made Minister to France in 1813, U.S. Secretary of War in 1815, and U.S. Secretary of Treasury from 1816-25. Democratic nominee for President in 1824, he lost to John Q. Adams after suffering a paralytic stroke. He was later elected Circuit Judge and died in Elberton on Sept. 15, 1834. Score another co-FTF for Pam308 and Colt308, congrats you guys!
