Geocache Description:

Bring your own pencil for the trail.

National is a ghost town in upper Gordon Creek. Coal was discovered in 1908, but mining didn't begin until the National Coal Company purchased the mines in the 1920's. All the buldings were constructed of the same brick material. In 1921 the National Coal Company and the Gordon Creek Coal Company, built a rail line from Helper to the mining operations. National discontinued mining in the area in July of 1938.
