The Highline Trail stretches from Pine AZ to the 260 trailhead 51 miles away. This section, in the shadow of Promontory Butte above, is one of my favorite sections.
However, there were a paucity of caches east of Slick Rock View (GCQ40Z) so I decided that adding a motivation to hike this part of the trail from the See Canyon Trailhead was in order.
This decon container is hidden just over 1.5 miles from the trailhead. There is an abrupt climb, followed by a more gradual ascent for a total of 400 feet. The trail is smooth in some places, rough in others. You can also access it from the Horton Creek Trailhead via the Derrick Trail, but that is 5.5 miles and about 1000 feet of elevation gain. For those who are truly insane, Promontory Butte (GC2J0BX) is less than a mile to the north (but involve a very steep ascent of 1000+ feet).
When I arrived at GZ, I found a small crack in the bottom of the container which I taped with athletic tape. If the intended FTF could take some Duct Tape and tape the crack with this it would be appreciated.
