Geocache Description:

You are searching for a discreetly hidden small geocache

The Duke’s Drive, as it is known locally, was originally a carriage drive to the Duke of Westminster’s Eaton Hall Estate near the village of Eccleston known as Chester Approach. It stretches from Overleigh just south of the Grosvenor Bridge to the heart of the estate.

Its entrance is marked with ornate wrought iron gates which were built by Swindley’s of Handbridge who also constructed the ironwork for Chester’s famous Eastgate Clock. For many years the gates were guarded by soldiers resident in the adjacent Overleigh Lodge. The original lodge was very elaborate building with watch towers, but this was replaced by the present building in the early 20th century which is now a private residence.

The construction of the A55 North Wales Expressway road, in the early 1990s, severed the drive near Eccleston isolating a 2 mile stretch to the north.
This northerly section has since become a public wooded recreation area popular with walkers, runners and bird spotters.

This is a quick drive by cache, I have marked it as a difficulty 2 due to the amount of muggles that are often in the area so stealth will be required
