De Middelwaard
Deze korte (2,5 km.) eenvoudige multi start op bovengenoemde coördinaten. Het is een pretentieloze multi die alleen maar bedoeld is om lekker uit te waaien aan het water.
Gratis parkeren op bovenstaande coördinaten.
De Middelwaard ligt aan de zuidoever van de Lek bij Vianen en is 35 ha. groot. Erin ligt een zandwinplas (zand gebruikt voor de A2), die in gebruik is als recreatieplas (zwembroek meenemen, gratis toegang). Ooit is de Middelwaard ontstaan als zandbank in de Lek en in de 19e eeuw door dammen toegevoegd aan het vaste land. Het natuurgebied is botanisch zeer waardevol met zeldzame stroomdalplanten als brede ereprijs en veldsalie. Maar ook zijn er de minder zeldzame sikkelhaver, kattendoorn, geel walstro enz. te vinden. Voorts zullen de vogelliefhebbers hier de roodborsttapuiten, graspiepers, puttertjes, patrijzen, weidevogels enz. herkennen. Zie voor alle informatie: utrechtslandschap.nl en klik op Middelwaard onder Vianen. Het terrein is alleen tussen zonsopgang en -ondergang toegankelijk. Voor deze cache is toestemming verleend door Recreatie Midden-Nederland, waarvoor onze hartelijke dank. Het wandelpad zal een probleem zijn voor rolstoelen. Honden hoeven niet aan de lijn.
U loopt ten dele door een gebied waar runderen en paarden grazen, maar dat er hier ooit een probleem is geweest tussen mens en dier is ons niet bekend.

This short (2,5 kilometers) simple Multi starts according to above mentioned coordinates. It is meant for getting a breath of fresh air at the water.

You partly walk in an area where cattle and horses are grazing. A problem between human beings and animals is not known. The Middelwaard is at the Southbank of the Lek in the neighbourhood of Vianen and is 35 Ha great. The sandwinpool, used for the A2, is situated in it. It is now used as a recreation pool for swimming and has free access. The Middelwaard is existed as a sandbank in the Lek and in the 19th century by barrages to the continent. This nature area is botanic and very valuable with rare plants like Veronica and Sage, but you can also meet the less rare Sickles, Rest harrows, Yellow Bedstraw etc.. At the same time the bird lovers will recognize the Stonechats, Meadow pipits, Goldfinches, Partidges, Meadow birds etc.. This area is only accessible between sunrise and sunset. We thank Recreatie Midden-Nederland for permission of this cache. The footpath will be a problem for people with wheelchairs. Dogs need not keep on the leash.
