Geocache Description:

This is the first in the series.

Keyworth Cache Crawl #1

The Keyworth Cache Crawl is a series of 16 Caches based around a 7 mile approx. circular walk from Keyworth, out to Widmerpool, across to Wysall, and back to Keyworth. There are now other caches near to the route you can also include.

The walk can be done as a complete circle, or could be done in sections using the local bus services from Keyworth Square, which is near the first cache. (At the present time the 863 service serves both Widmerpool and Wysall, but with a very infrequent timetable since the bus services in the area were reviewed.)

The walk is mainly along public footpaths, with some sections of walking along roads. The footpaths are generally well signed, but I have included waypoints with the cache descriptions to assist. The paths are reasonably easy walking, although do cross farm land so can be quite muddy. Please make sure you keep dogs under control as there is livestock about, and don’t stray from the public footpaths; it is easy to wander into bulls fields!
Although the roads used are quite quiet, due care and attention will be needed, so I wouldn’t recommend the route for young children due to this.

Due to the nature of the walk, many of the caches aren’t suitable for users of wheelchairs or pushchairs.  Some of the caches can be done as cache and dash finds. Please see the individual descriptions to see which can be. The series uses a variety of different cache types and sizes, so I’d recommend taking tweezers to help you!
Please note the car park in the village now is a pay and display car park, and is expensive if you intend being longer than three hours. If you time it right a nice food / drink stop half way round! (see waypoint on KCC12)

This Cache:

This cache is in quite a busy area, so stealth will be required. Although they may need a bit of help reaching the cache, Wheelchair users will be able to access this cache. This location used to be used as a "herb exchange" but it never really took off. Recently it has been changed into a AED location. The cache is now completely different to how it originally was, so previous finders might not be able to help! You don't need to be inside the box for this disguised hide!

Congratulations to Nottscacher for FTF!
