I did a road trip out west last March. I had certain destinations but not sure where I would stop to rest along the way. After a fun day of driving through the Colorado Mountains and then north east corner of Utah, I found myself in Wyoming. There isn’t a whole lot here and that included cell phone reception. I was driving in pitch black darkness and no clue when the next gas station or lodging would be. I passed by a rest stop and didn’t think much of it. Ten miles down the road, I realized I was extremely tired and without knowing when the next stop was, I decided to turn around and sleep there. When I woke up I saw a huge round rock. Reading the rest stop signs I soon learned I was at Independence Rock and there was a virtual cache here! Cool! I would have missed this great piece of history if I had just zoomed by in my car like I originally planned.
