Until recently the river was dammed just upstream from this point. With the removal of the dam, salmon can now run straight through and no longer do we get to watch their massive leaps over the dam wall. GZ is at the top of a high steep sided bank above the river. Please watch the weans.
A series of caches on a 5 mile circuitous walk that is not really suitable for cache and dashing. It begins with an uphill climb to the south rim of the valley before levelling out through deciduous woodland. The route then descends through the Lanfine estates to the west lodge in Newmilns and returns to Darvel along a pleasant riverside walk.
