Geocache Description:

The actual cache seems to have disappeared, but since this was Tasmania's second cache ever, and it is in a great location, I have made it a virtual cache.

This cache was placed in February 2001 by participants in a sister city visit from Napa California, USA to Launceston. It is one of the oldest geocaches in Tasmania.

Please note: logs to this cache will be reviewed. False logs WILL be deleted. As the Groundspeak Listing Requirements state: "The owner will assume the responsibility of quality control of logged “finds” for the cache, and will agree to delete any “find” logs that appear to be bogus, counterfeit, off topic, or not within the stated requirements." That being said, if you cannot answer the questions below but can otherwise prove you have been to the site, just send me a message. Because of some of the bogus finds on this cache and the passing around of information, there are some 'trick' questions below, i.e. there is a known discrepancy between this listing description and the actual site. Knowing this discrepancy is part of how I know you have actually visited the site, so if something seems amiss, simply state this when you contact me. This should be obvious to anyone who visits the site.

In order to claim a find on this cache you must meet 3 requirements. Firstly, upload a photo of yourself with the cave in the background and your GPSr in view. (If you geocache with a phone, a selfie is fine as long as the other questions are answered and sent to me.) You must also email the answers to the following questions to me:

  • What are the names of the photographers whose photos appear on the information sign near the caves?
How many squares wide is the surface you are standing on?
Logs from cachers who have not fulfilled these requirements will be deleted after a week. You can always contact me after this to fulfil the requirements, then log the cache again.
