Geocache Description:

A simple puzzle cache – something that will let you appreciate the impressiveness of Golden Eagles and their importance to the culture and ecology of this area.

This cache was placed to coincide with the Golden Eagle Festival, a remarkable and unique cultural event that celebrates the proud heritage of the Kazakh eagle hunters of Bayan Olgii. Although this event is more than enough to draw you to this area, getting a cache was the one thing we thought missing and sought to rectify. From the cache location you can get a commanding view of the festival area without getting too close to the eagle launching site. Answer these simple questions from the National Geographic page about Golden Eagles (http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/birds/golden-eagle/) to get the cache coordinates:

ABC = At what speed (in kilometers) can the Golden Eagle dive?
Eagle hunters hone this ability in their eagles so that they can hunt foxes at lightning speed.

DEF = How large (in kilometers) can a Golden Eagle’s territory be?
Western Mongolia is a vast and barren area, and Kazakh eagle hunters similarly live over wide expanses in semi-nomadic patterns.

GH =What is the average life span of a Golden Eagle in the wild?
Kazakh hunters only keep them for the first 5 years of their lives before returning them to the wild so that they may mate.

IJ = What is the upper size of a Golden Eagle (in cm)?
Kazakh hunters only train females, as they are the larger and more powerful sex of the species, and just as aggressive.
