Established in 1942, Beaulieu Aerodrome was the base for a number of RAF squadrons during World War Two. Planes that flew from here included the Halifax, Wellington and Liberator bombers, and Hawker Typhoon bomber-fighters.
Although the aerodrome was officially closed in 1950, the area is still used for flying today. It is the only place in the New Forest where model flyers can take to the skies.
The cache is located approximatly 700 meters from the recommended parking spot at N 50 48.134 - W 001 29.648.
The route to the cache is quite easy, but the cache itself is hidden in a sneaky place. Take a hint from the cache name and be prepared by bringing something to protect yourself!
Also, with regard to the New Forest ponies - please leave them alone. DO NOT approach them (especially from behind) and DO NOT attempt to feed them. If you have any canine friends, ensure they are on a lead at all times.
The cache contains all of the usual bits and bobs, and please log your visit in the log book.
Good luck!
