Az Alföldön is találhatunk kiemelkedéseket, amelyeket az itt élő népek kurgánként emlegettek. Használatos a kunhalom elnevezés is, ami pontatlan, hiszen ezek a halmok jóval azelőtt alakultak ki, mint ahogy a kunok építhették volna őket. A halmok 5-10 méter magas, 20-50 méter átmérőjű mesterséges képződmények. Félgömb vagy kúp alakúak, lehetnek sírdombok, őrhalmok, határhalmok. Régebben tisztelték ezeket a halmokat, hagyományok, rituálék kötődtek hozzájuk.
Van egy érdekes mintázatot adó halomsor Hajdúböszörménytől Földesig. Ez a minta egy ostor, aminek a nyele, a halomsor kezdete Zelemérnél van, ahol egy nemrég előkerült hagyomány alapján a hun király, Attila nevelkedett gyerekkorában. These mounds are sometimes termed as tumuli but this is something of a misnomer, as these mounds had been formed long before Cumanians could have built them. These mounds are artificial formations, which are 5-10 metres high and 20-50 metres in diameter. These semispherical or conical mounds must have been burial-, guard- or frontiers - mounds. In the past they were respected for and were places of rituals, traditions. The mounds from Hajdúböszörmény to Földes are arranged in a row making a very interesting pattern. This pattern is a whip, the handle of which is at Zelemér, and this is the first mound in the row. According to a recently found evidence, Attila, the King of the Huns was brought up here. On the top of the mound at Zelemér, some remains of a temple from Arpadian age can be found.
