This is our first attempt at a different type of Geocache using the 'beacon' attribute where you need to have a GPS capable of receiving an electronic message from a Chirp. We haven't done one of these caches ourselves yet but thought it would be nice to place one to give people with a compatible GPS device the opportunity to try it out. We really do hope you enjoy!!!! Be sure to let us know how you get on.
As stated above, you WILL need a Chirp compatible GPS device to find this cache.
Park at either of the suggested co-ordinates and proceed along this stretch of The Ulster Way to the posted co-ordinates with your Chirp enabled device (Setup / Geocaching / Chirp Searching On). This section of The Ulster Way is reasonably well maintained but it can be muddy in places so sturdy footwear is recommended, don't be coming out in your Sunday best!
Once you reach the posted co-ordinates, you don't need to search for anything, just walk around or near same and after a short time your compatible GPS device will pick up the Chirp and this will give you the final co-ordinates for the cache, along with other important information.
The final location of the cache is a short but pleasant walk from these co-ordinates.
The cache is a non-traditional small cache containing a log and some swaps. Please note that the final container is fixed and should not be removed from its mounting. As mentioned previously, please be sure to bring a pen/pencil with you to sign the log.
There is also an unregistered Travelbug and a large First To Find badge in the cache as a reward for the first finder.
Lastly, it is recommended that you turn "Off" Chirp searching when you have finished because it is thought to put an extra drain on GPS batteries.
Happy caching!
