Go to the co-ordinates and there you’ll see the clock tower. Look at the plaque overlooking the river: the date that the original gaol was erected is 156A.
Head over to N 51 04.114 W001 47.833 and look up high across the road at the date on the building on the corner (currently a bank). Date = 187B. NOTE: Scaffolding is currently obscuring the date. To keep this geocache possible in the meantime, we can tell you that B = 4.
St. Thomas and St Edmunds church at N 51 04.138 W001 47.831 is very close by. If you go there and look at the information board you will see a phone number. Phone number = 322C37. It is a very interesting church and if you have time you should certainly go and explore inside and see the famous Doom painting.
The next stage of the multi brings you to the arts centre at N 51 04.328 W001 47.533. Look at the gravestones on the ground. What was the year that Kezia, wife of James Fry died? Gravestone = 18D7. Once you’ve completed this why don’t you try our nearby GP003 – St. Edmunds Art Centre cache?
The next stage is at the Alms Houses at N 51 04.283 W001 47.610. From the co-ordinates, you can see several round windows some of which are bricked up. How many round windows can you see to the left of the first blocked up one? Windows = E.
After completing this go to N 51 04.116 W001 47.614 and look at the plaque outside the hotel. What years was the Southern Medieval Wing built between? Dates = 1280 – 1G20.
Next, go to Trinity Hospital at N 51 04.012 W001 47.511. On the plaque there is a date indicating when the hospital was founded. What is it? Date = 13H0.
Lastly, go to the old Salisbury museum at N 51 03.959 W001 47.470 and look at the date on the plaque when the museum was established. What is the date? Date = 186F.
