Geocache Description:

First Cache of a future series


Some remains can still be seen of the Eckington Park Flour Mill scattered in the bed of the river Moss. There was a mention of a waterwheel in the Moss Valley in the Domesday book. A Water grist Mill was recorded in 1650 by the Parliamentary Commissioners and the Park Mill was rebuilt after fires in1826 and 1904. The Mill ceased operation in the early 1940’s.

The lake formed by the Dam was the scene of a tragic accident in when three children died after falling through the ice along with a miner from the nearby Seldom Seen Mine.

The coordinates bring you to the grave of Alfred Williamson, local hero who died aged AB on CD/EF/CGHI (dd/mm/yyyy)
