Cache is hidden just outside of the Martinez Canyon cabins area. Cache is a .50 ammo box with Geocaching labels on it. To get to Martinez Canyon: Take 60 east toward Superior and turn south at the 2nd flag pole at N33 15.781, W111 16.514.
Follow main trail until N33 11.846, W111 13.053 and take the east trail. North trail goes to the Ajax mine.
Follow the trail until N33 08.980, W111 12.084 and take the east trail. South trail goes to Box Canyon.
Follow the trail until N33 09.190, W111 10.609 and take the NE trail. South trail goes to the coke ovens.
Follow the trail until just before the cabins. One way is about 15 miles and I would say that you should only try this in a 4WD or ATV. There was about 10 vehicles at the cabins camping when we got there, some pulling trailers. Nice area with some springs, oaks and really nice rock formations. Definately worth the trip just for the views.
Coordinates were averaged out. Cache is about 25 feet from the Martinez Canyon Road. I rated this a 4 being that the canyon walls might give you a hard time, although I was able to get a good reading there.
NOTE! 11/08/2003 - Cache has been moved out of the wash and up the hill a bit.
